With the ceremonial entrance of the young ladies’ and young gentlemen’s committee, the evening begins in the true spirit of Vienna’s ballroom tradition. To festive music, the couples proceed into the hall, greet the audience with graceful bows, and set the first sparkling highlight of the night. In the fan polonaise that follows, the lines unfold like a living ornament: fans open and close in time with the music, tracing elegant arcs through the air and filling the ballroom with a play of grace, rhythm, and midsummer night magic.
Fledermaus-Quadrille
Then comes the Fledermaus Quadrille—an upbeat, light-hearted dance game that sweeps the entire ballroom along in six figures. In the first figure, the couples take their places, find the rhythm together, and glide into the steps. The second brings momentum and changes, as the lines dissolve and form anew. The third becomes more playful: turns, encounters, a brief pause. The fourth tightens the action before the fifth sparkles with energy and small surprises. In the sixth figure, everything culminates in a joyful finale and applause.

Entrance

With the ceremonial moment of the ball’s opening, the evening reaches its climax—and then, at last, it’s time for: “Alles Walzer!” As the first waltz melodies begin, the dance floor opens to all guests, and the parquet fills almost by itself. Couples find each other, steps grow more confident, dresses swirl, and tailcoats gleam in the light. Ceremony becomes movement, and the opening turns into a lively ball night: stylish, light, and full of music—the Summer Ball transforms into an unforgettable Viennese ball night.
